The Country varies from undulating tablelands to rugged and wild gorges. As a result the region is renowned for many beautiful national parks and Guyra is a perfect spot to use as a base to plan your adventures.

Serveral parks provide opportunities for day visits from the New england National Park to the Guyra Fawkes River National Park and the spectacular Styx River National Park. Facilities available include camping areas, picnic spots and walking tracks.

Mother of Ducks Lagoon

One of guyra's most important land marks is the Mother of Ducks Lagoon which is a large stretch of water 14kms in circumference, held in a silted volcanic crater. The lagoon is a high altitude wetland reserve that attracts bird lovers from all over australia and the world.

Little Langothlin Lagoon

Located approximately 25km north of Guyra, Little Llangothlin Lagoon Nature Reserve is a bird watcher's haven, being one of only a few high altitude wetlands in the country. The lagoon is an important breeding and feeding area for migratory birds such as the Japanese snipe.

The area has a variety of accommodation to suit anyone's requirements including motel accommodation, Australia's highest caravan park, hotels, camping and a range of B & B's in both rural and urban areas.
